Chilli Idli | Masala Idli | FoodDairies

Today we learn how to make Chilli Idli.

Chilli idli is the solution to your small hunger & leftover idli. Chilli idli is a very quick & easy recipe to prepare for breakfast or snack time. It also the best recipe for your kid’s tiffin. Vegetables used in idli adds more flavor & fiber in your dish, enhances the color & very healthy at the same time. you can serve Chilli idli as a starter snack in your parties.

Ingredients for Chilli Idli:-

  • 5-6 idlis each cut into 4 pieces

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • ½ tbsp mustard seeds

  • 10-12 curry leaves

  • 1 green chili chopped

  • Capsicum sliced 1 cup

  • Onion sliced 1 cup

  • Salt according to taste

  • 1 tbsp Black pepper

  • 1 tbsp Black sauce

  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup


  1. Cut the leftover idli in 4 pieces and kept aside.

  2. Heat oil in a pan.

  3. Add mustard seeds & curry leaves.

  4. When mustard seeds start to crackle add green chili & fry it.

  5. Add chopped onion & soft for 2 minutes.

  6. Now add chopped capsicum and fry on high flame to maintain its crunchiness.

  7. Sprinkle salt & black pepper according to your taste & mix well.

  8. Next, add Black sauce & ketchup & stir well.

  9. Put the pieces of idlis in a pan & saute for 2 minutes on high flame.

  10. Your Chilli idli is almost ready.
  11. Garnish with coriander & serve hot.
